Blackpool has what is apparently the biggest arcade in Europe, Coral Island!

And with that..... I haven't managed to find a decent fighting game in any of the arcades in Blackpool, and I went in them allespecially looking for them (even the backstreet ones). Only one I found was a really old version of Virtua Fighter that was on a falling apart machine with buttons that didn't work (and its since been removed).

I emailed Coral Island when SF4 was released asking if they planned on getting it and got no response back.

Hope this helps!

*EDIT* Just realised this wont help as you've already been and gone.... Oh well hope this helps anyone else planning on looking

I'm afraid Blackpool has been poisoned with Guitar Hero machines now. The only things you'll find are what seems like every freaking Time Crisis and House of the Dead, DDR machines, slots, Silent Scopes, a few racing games, A Jurassic Park shooting game and that's about it.

Tekken 5 was in Blackpool a while ago, but it was dead...

I demand a petition for AE or just VANILLA to be in Coral Island

Oh and there is like a giant Outrun arcade game too where you can sit in the cars and drive (Big Woop)

They added a Terminator shooting game too, but guess what! The game shoots about a mile to the left of where you aim

Don't play the Guitar Hero machines either, the games aren't even freakin' calibrated and the strum bar seems to be stuck half of the time.

Gutted i used to stay in Blackpool every weekend due to grandparents living there, then i used to stay with a friend over the weekends and go clubbing and hitting the arcades until the 3rd Strike era (cos studies and work was taking over my time ).

My grandad used to have an arcade and pool hall down Waterloo Rd, we got a Hyper Fighting machine cheap and had a few die-hards play there. Good times.

Is there still a Lucky 7 on the South Shore? Coral Island is where i played the very first Street Fighter (with the pressure pads instead of six buttons) back in 87' 88'.

Damn i need to go back for a nostalgia trip.

Not that i'm aware of, but I don't really go to Blackpool that much anymore (Last few times I went were for Offline SF Sessions)

EDIT: I missed the days of the arcade (Due to not being Alive )

Coral Island Sold Out tbh : (

I don't think they realise what having SF4 cabinets would do for business ;D

sorry to say that the last Streetfighter machine i have ever seen in blackpool was the original streetfighter 2, and that is going back around 15 years or so now. i used to go to coral island every weekend with a mate of mine and there has NEVER been any updated ones in there. sorry.

It sucks ass man. I saw a brand new 2 player raceing game named GRID. It's new to arcades an it looked like it cost a bomb.

But not SF. Anywhere.

same in Morecambe too, all our machines are freakin' slots man!

My missus and I are both nerds, and were upset that there was about 5 actual arcade games. mostly racers/shooters. I miss spending hours playing beat'em ups and ghouls and ghosts!

all the arcades are solid gamblers and the occasional light gun game or driving game. last sf2 machine was at the bottom of central pier and is now gone, this includes cleveleys and to my knowledge even fleetwood. no sf4 cabs as it takes up space 2 pound a go slots now use. the arcades here are like shitty casinos. nothing of note though the winter gardens did have tekken 5 i cant guarantee its still there. upsetting i know, sorry mate

Proper blast from the past eh? I remember a Super Turbo appearing in Mr B's around '94.

Southport was ok for SF up until about 2000, when they all went gambler friendly too. You could find Alpha 3, SF3 and the older ones amongst the few places.

It's a shame my schedule won't allow me to participate in the Preston scene there, perhaps in a few months when things have settled down with work i'll find time.
